Backyard Paver Patio Build in Rosemount MN

A lot of new construction homes in the Twin Cities get dropped into the yard with nothing out back - just a sliding door, a small concrete pad, and a grass slope that goes nowhere. That was the situation here in Rosemount. The homeowners wanted a real outdoor space. Somewhere to actually use.

We went with RCP Titan pavers in Pewter for the main field. It's a large-format paver with a clean, modern look that sits flat and reads almost like natural stone. The whole thing is framed out with an Onyx border - a darker charcoal tone that gives the edge definition and ties everything together. That two-tone combo is one of our favorites right now. It adds a finished, intentional look without being overdone.

The stair setup off the back door was a big part of this job too. The door sits elevated above grade, so we built out a proper paver stair structure to connect the house to the patio surface. It's not just cosmetic - it makes getting in and out of the house every day actually feel natural. That's the kind of detail that doesn't always get talked about, but you notice it every single time you use the space.

With the patio laid out and the seating in place, the whole back of the house feels like it belongs. The family now has room for a grill, chairs, a side table, a fire pit - all of it. The space works. That's what a well-built paver patio does. It turns unused square footage into somewhere you actually want to spend time.
